Product Introduction
Galvanized Steel Pipe is a kind of Carbon Steel Pipe, mostly Welded Pipe, Galvanized steel pipes are divided into cold galvanized steel pipes (electro galvanized steel pipes) and hot-dip galvanized steel pipes. At present, hot-dip galvanized steel pipes are mainly used in fire protection, electric power and highways.
Galvanizing can increase the corrosion resistance of steel pipes and prolong their service life. Galvanized pipes are widely used. In addition to being used as pipeline pipes for water transmission, gas, oil and other general low-pressure fluids, they are also used as oil well pipes and oil transmission pipes in the petroleum industry, especially in offshore oil fields, as well as pipes for oil heaters, condensing coolers, coal distillation oil washing exchanges of chemical coking equipment, as well as trestle pipe piles, support frames of mine tunnels, etc.
Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG), as referenced is the process of dipping fabricated steel into a kettle or vat of molten zinc.
Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) is the process of coating iron, steel or ferrous materials with a layer of zinc. This done by passing the metal through molten zinc at a temperature of 860°F (460°C) to form zinc carbonate (ZNC03). Zinc carbonate is a strong material that protects steel and can prevent corrosion in many circumstances. Hot-dip galvanizing can be carried out cheaply and in large batches.

Galvanized Steel Pipe products are divided into two main categories based on the galvanizing process: 1) pre-galvanized steel pipe; 2) hot-dip galvanized steel pipe.
Pre-galvanized steel pipe (also known as GI pipe) is made from continuous hot-dip galvanized steel strip wound and welded, and the galvanizing process takes place before the pipe is formed.
Hot-dip galvanized steel pipe are made from welded steel tubes with a black surface which are degreased, pickled, dipped, dried, and then impregnated with dissolved zinc for a period of time, with the galvanizing step taking place after the tubes are formed.
The main difference between pre-galvanized steel pipe and hot-dip galvanized steel pipe:
1. Different appearance:
The surface of pre-galvanized steel pipe is smooth, bright, even, flat and greenish white.
The surface of hot-dip galvanized steel pipe is rough, which is caused by the hot-dip galvanizing process, and the color is darker and silver-white.
2. Corrosion resistance:
The corrosion resistance of pre-galvanized steel pipe is poorer than that of hot-dip galvanized pipe, firstly, because the galvanized strip removes the excess zinc liquid during the production process, resulting in a thinner layer of zinc; secondly, because galvanizing is carried out prior to the formation of the steel pipe, there will be no zinc coverage on the weld seams and cuts of the pre-galvanized steel pipe, resulting in poorer corrosion resistance.
Hot-dip galvanized steel pipe has strong corrosion resistance, and its service life can be up to 20-50 years depending on the use environment and the amount of galvanization.
3. Cost:
Pre-galvanized pipe costs less than hot-dip galvanized pipe.
